Ten in '10 Have you discovered what ...

Ten in '10

Have you discovered what is most important in life? Is it having the nicest car? Is it living in an upscale suburb? What about achieving educational excellence? Having all of your children successful in career? Food for thought...

Have you made Christ your Savior? What if those closest to you were to find Christ as Savior? Wouldn't that be pretty important? In 2010, we are going to embark on a challenge to every member of the POP. We are going to identify Ten in 2010. We are going to be purposeful in uniting Ten Friends, Family members or Foes to Christ. We are calling it Ten in '10.

It should be time out for those who know the truth of God's Word and the wrath to come not to become more active in expanding the Kingdom. We wait and hope that people will show up to church and hear our choir and meet our pastors. Well, let's get to work in the Body of Christ.

Secondly, we are going to grow up in the Body of Christ. We have gotten what we need (He has saved us and made our lives better). It's time for us to think about somebody else. At the POP, we had a Moving Ahead in Ministry Service were we cut away some 'stuff' that was holding us back. We also had as a theme to our 30th Church Anniversary "Moving Ahead in Ministry".

Thirty being 3 x 10, denotes in a higher degree the perfection of Divine order, as marking the right moment and also a sign of maturity. Christ was Thirty years of age at the commencement of His ministry, Luke 3:23. Joseph, His type, was the same age, Genesis 41:46. David also, when he began to reign, 2 Samuel 5:4.

So in our efforts to Move Ahead in Ministry and with the understanding that by now we should have gotten what we need from Him, our 2010 theme is "It's Not About Me"! That won't sit well with those that are only concerned with themselves or have the "what about me" attitude. It's time that we move beyond ourself and seek to work in our community to help somebody else.

Philippians 2:7 says, "But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:". This act that Christ displays is called Kenosis. A Kenotic act. The text literally is saying that He (Christ) emptied Himself. He self-emptied Himself. It wasn't about Him. He became a Servant.

It is our prayer that you will take this journey with us in 2010 as we reclaim Ten in '10 and Empty Ourselves to become servants.

Morning and Evening I will Bless the Lord and Give Him the Glory
